Where the book information comes from

Open Library

Book records, covers, series information and community ratings come from Open Library, an initiative of the non-profit Internet Archive. Open Library is the backbone of Cove's search and the largest single source of its book data. If you love books, they accept contributions and corrections — fixing a record there fixes it for everyone.

Google Books

Some descriptions, page counts, publication details and covers are provided by the Google Books API. Google Books content remains subject to Google's terms.

Wikipedia & Wikidata

Facts such as page counts and publishers are filled in from book infoboxes on Wikipedia, written and maintained by volunteer editors (article text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence). Series information — which books belong to a series, and in what order — comes from Wikidata, available under CC0.

Apple iTunes Search

Audiobook covers and some descriptions are provided by Apple's iTunes Search API.

Book covers

Covers are the copyright of their respective publishers and artists. Cove displays them the way a library catalogue or bookshop does — to identify the book — and links no advertising to them. If you hold rights to a cover and want it removed, email hello@covebooks.app.

Open-source software

Fonts

Cove is set in Playfair Display and Inter, with Cinzel, Crimson Pro, EB Garamond, Exo 2 and Orbitron in the premium themes — all open fonts served via Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License.

And

Thanks to every librarian, volunteer editor and open-source maintainer whose unpaid care makes a small independent app like this possible at all.
